Priddis - Millarville Fair

Saturday, August 21, 2010

The Priddis & Millarville Fair has its origins in 1907 when local farmers and ranchers in the area decided to organize an event where they could both display their efforts reflecting their rural lifestyle and, in some cases, engage in friendly competition. As with most events of its kind at the time, this also served as an important annual social gathering, even as it does today. In fact, many families in our area have attended and entered exhibits in the Fair through multiple generations, with many more to come. For a younger generation in particular, the Fair has been, through the decades, a chance to catch up with far-flung friends in the summer months and, as one older veteran of many Fair’s described, “learn the important social skill of how to lose with grace.”

Where/When Is The Fair?

The Priddis & Millarville Fair, the 103rd edition, will be held August 21, 2010 at the grounds of the Millarville Racetrack & Agricultural Society, about 35 minutes southwest of Calgary on Highway 22, 20 minutes west of Okotoks on Highway 549 and about 10 minutes from Black Diamond/Turner Valley also on Highway 22.
