Spring Snow

This is one of the bigger storms to hit Bragg Creek

We woke up to about 6 cm of spring snow on May 8, 2008. Huge flakes were falling and about 6 cm accumulated every hour through the morning. Then it turned to a kind of sleet. We were back to snow by the evening and by the following morning, we had 46 cm (18 inches) of snow on the ground. This isn’t all that extraordinary. We usually get snow in May. It falls on the plants that provide us hope that spring is on it’s way and that winter may finally be over. All we can do is wait for it to melt. It’s the frost in June that I find most disturbing.
