JULY 19 – 21, 2002
Dedicated to the pioneers of Bragg Creek
This year’s festivities were dedicated to The Pioneers of Bragg Creek. The Bar KC Ranch float in the parade did an excellent job of identifying many of the early settlers including the Connops, Muncasters and Fullertons among others. Jim Connop rode in a flashy red convertible Ford from the 60s. Many other seniors were on hand to celebrate the event as well. Sharon Duncan organized the weekend events with help from Gail Gold and Bob Jackson. Many local groups got into the fun of it with Parents Time Out organizing activities, BraggArts Theatre, and Bragg Creek Hockey flipping burgers and “dogs” during the day after the Redwood Medows Fire Department served up a tasty breakfast. Bruce Rogers put on another great pet show awarding prizes for the dog with the waggiest tail, the pet-owner look-alike contest a number of other fun contests and games. On Sunday, the Chamber of Commerce sponsored a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for the Scouts and Cubs. The breakfast featured buffalo sausage and fresh B.C. blueberries. A few folks said it was the best they’d ever tasted. Karoke World provided the entertainment to keep things hopping. Fifty-six entrants completed the Bragg Creek Days 10 km Road Race, many in about 40 minutes. We’ve assembled a variety of images from the parade and the other weekend activities.
