Kananaskis Country is a four-season, multi-use recreation area located just 55 kilometres west of Calgary, Alberta. Bragg Creek is the gateway to the Elbow Valley area of Kananaskis. The entire area includes over 4,000 square kilometres of some of Canada’s most spectacular terrain.
Rolling hills, crystaline rivers of the Rocky Mountain foothills, forests teeming with wildlife, the stark beauty of the high alpine rock and ice, rugged peaks and sparkling lakes.
The Elbow Valley and West Bragg Creek offer hundreds of kilometres of trails for hiking, cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and off-roading. There are hundreds of campsites. You can paddle the Elbow River by canoe, kayak or raft.
Please be aware that the backcountry and the activities you can participate in, are potentially dangerous. Weather, difficult terrain and wild animals can turn an enjoyable experience into a nightmare. Outfitters, guides and tour operators can ensure that you enjoy a memorable visit.
