The place for a picnic
There is a lot to do in the Elbow Valley, but one of the most popular activities is a picnic with friends and family. Before the 2013 flood Allen Bill Pond and Elbow Falls were the most popular destinations. They are still attractive, although the pond is gone for good. The Kananaskis administration did some deep thinking about how to provide a great outdoor experience for visitors and decided to develop Cobble Flats into a premier site for picnics.
With upgraded facilities, it is the best place to go for a picnic. There are a lot of tables (over 35), all wheelchair accessible via paved paths. Five have two tables for larger groups. All picnic pads have fire pits (bring your own wood). There is an indoor picnic shelter and a large group campfire pit. These are likely going to be reserved for group use starting in 2019 (Call: 1-877-537-2757). There is car and equestrian parking and toilet facilities. No liquor is allowed.
All of this is located at the foot of the Eastern Slopes of the Rockies with great mountain views and easy access to the river.
