We moved here for the trees, then we found, deer, moose, coyotes, hares, ravens, grouse, flying squirrels and pack rats. Nature surrounds us with sounds, sights and scents that fill the foothills with life. We are in the montane geologic zone between the prairie and the alpine mountains. One pioneer called it the “stairway to heaven”. Ben Gadd’s “Handbook of the Canadian Rockies” is essential.
